Fox on the Fairway
Fox on the Fairway is a farce about country clubs, golf and the gambling of everything upon winning or losing a game, love, foibles of the rich, and those that work for them. The cast was lovely, starring some Chicago favorites, Lance Baker, Kate Bergeron, Norm Boucher, Laura Freeman, Linda Gillum, Michael Mahler, and the fabulous understudies, John Boss, David Hathaway, and Stephanie Stockstill.
The header was built of 1″ square stock tube steel, broke into three sections, bolted together and picked from the beams in the theatre’s ceiling. The simple frame was then covered by interlocking foam with the outside template being the decorative piece, a little bit of crown molding, and a whole lot of faux finishing.
When we paint woodwork, we start with a base appropriate for the finished product. We began with a warm tan, two separate wood grain glazes and the wood grain tool, shellac, and then an overall airbrushed to give it a factory finished look.
The set was donated to Westside Theatre Guild in whole except for the carpet and the fixtures.
